Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Off-Grid Companion may use, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.

We do not sell your personal information or data. Your information is not collected for the purpose of selling it to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

Information the app may use

Off-Grid Companion may use information you provide or create when using features you choose, including:

  • Account information, such as your email address, when you create or sign in to an account.
  • Your learning choices, household profile, plans, pantry information, saved resources, app progress, and Companion preferences.
  • Questions or voice transcripts you choose to send to your Companion.
  • Approximate or precise location when you actively use a location-based feature.
  • Subscription status and purchase identifiers supplied by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or another authorized payment provider.
  • Basic technical and diagnostic information needed to secure, maintain, and improve the app.

How information is used

Information is used only as reasonably necessary to operate, personalize, secure, maintain, and improve Off-Grid Companion and the features you choose to use. This can include saving progress, providing personalized guidance, syncing across devices, restoring purchases, responding to support requests, preventing misuse, and fixing reliability problems.

Location

Location is used only when needed for features such as finding nearby local food sources or providing regional guidance. Off-Grid Companion does not continuously track your location. You can decline location access, enter a location manually where offered, or change access in your device settings.

Microphone and speech

Microphone access is used only when you choose voice features. Audio may be processed to understand your request and provide a response. You can type instead, and you can change microphone access in your device settings.

Progress, offline data, and Companion memory

App progress may be saved so you can track your journey. Some plans, lessons, progress, pantry information, and preferences may be stored on your device for offline use. If you sign in or enable syncing, eligible data may also be stored with your account. Companion memory is optional and can be controlled or cleared in Settings.

Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions may be processed by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or authorized payment providers. Off-Grid Companion does not directly store full payment card information for App Store or Google Play purchases. These providers process purchases under their own privacy policies and send the app limited information needed to confirm access, such as product, entitlement, status, and renewal information.

When information may be shared

Information may be shared with service providers only when necessary to operate app features—for example, account hosting, secure data storage, voice or Companion responses, maps and local search, purchase processing, reliability, and support. Information may also be disclosed when legally required, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

Retention and security

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and security. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

  • Use many core features without creating an account.
  • Decline or revoke microphone and location permissions.
  • Control Companion memory and voice greetings in Settings.
  • Remove offline downloads and locally saved information using available app controls.
  • Contact Support with questions about your account or privacy.

Children

Off-Grid Companion is designed for household learning and may include supervised family activities, but it is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Adults should supervise minors and all safety-related activities.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the app changes. The date at the top will show the latest revision. Questions about your privacy? Contact us through our Support page.
